The Challenge
Our challenge was to provide a custom management training program. During the training identify the personality traits and leadership potential of the participants, teach specific skills in leadership, communication, management practices and implement a schedule for follow up and review.
Our challenge for this program was to provide a foundation for and synergy among managers to improve their effectiveness including leadership, employee communication, management practices, and production and service performance.
Employees resented seemingly arbitrary management decisions and there were misunderstandings between employees and managers with no clear, documented standards and expectations. The managers had never been brought together in a formal setting to interact and learn. The first biggest challenge was to break down the fear of participating in the classroom and provide an environment of trust among participants and motivation to learn.
The Training Solution
Provided customized management training that included interactive modules, personality testing, leadership.
Experienced subject matter trainers were used for each session. This approach built credibility into the sessions, enhanced problem solving among participants, and created more of a sharing, interactive environment between participant and trainer than textbook lecture approach. During one session, participants were videotaped and critiqued by themselves and the other participants. This was the most popular session and demonstrated the trust and confidence beginning to take place among the managers.
The Results
An understanding of each manager's strengths and weaknesses. Participant job descriptions were reviewed and responsibilities were modified as necessary to strengthen the leadership of the Company, communication among managers, and employee satisfaction. Managers learned more about their personality traits and how they fit in to the culture of the organization. They also learned about the importance of listening to employees and how their attitude affects production and service performance.
