Safety is an integral part of TVA's vision.
TVA is an organization that cares about people. Employees should be able to return home in the same condition they came to work.
The Challenge
Our challenge for this program was to demonstrate TVA's corporate concern for improving safety and morale and reducing injuries.
For this program, a broader dimension was included -- the employees' families.
The Marketing Solution
We designed and launched a new program to serve as the cornerstone of TVA safety. We selected and used the very best elements of motivational and communication programs from around the world and anchored the program in a symbol called MegaSafe.
Promotional programs increased awareness and expanded interest and involvement in safety, recognition programs immediately recognized employees for specific safe behaviors, and reward programs promoted a "healthy" competition among employees. In addition, TVA communicated and promoted family safety involvement as a key to reducing employee off-the-job injuries.
The Results
This awareness campaign catalyzed team efforts, increased cooperation among employees, boosted morale, and raised awareness of good safety and health practices. Achievements carried over to and impacted on other programs.
As tracked by TVA, this program significantly reduced frequency and severity of incidents and workers' compensation costs.
